SCI / SCIF HURRICANE RELIEF FUNDING SURPASSES $100,000

As you are well aware, Hurricane Harvey has brought great devastation to the people of Texas. With damages estimated to be in the tens of billions of dollars, and years of recovery ahead, the affected communities need all the help that can be afforded.
On September 8, in response to requests from the Houston and Texas Brush Country (Corpus Christi) chapters, the Executive Committee approved funding grants in an amount equal to each chapter's 30 percent for 2017. These contributions, coming from the contingency fund, total more than $51,000.
The Houston chapter will use its grant to provide assistance to those hardest hit in the middle to low income neighborhoods. On behalf of SCI, chapter members will go door-to-door, presenting Lowe's gift cards, so that rebuilding efforts can begin immediately. With this, and its own financial assistance, the chapter's goal is to bring relief to 100 families.
The Texas Brush Country chapter will be forwarding its grant to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. This will provide financial support to the employees of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, from which at least four game wardens have completely lost their homes while dozens of other employees' homes have suffered extensive damage.
